Grizzly7

Sam is coming to you today from the “Eye” of the Grizzly.

Of the twenty artist bears in Cody’s Grizzly Festival, this is my favorite. Notice the Native American influence? The bear claw necklace?

This wonderful bear, created by Sally Rae Ogletree, is named, “Yogi.”

Notice how some of the painting on ”Yogi” depicts the Plains Indians hunting Buffalo.

Brilliant!

If you feel like exploring all of the bears in Cody’s A Gathering of Grizzlies, go here. I promise you are in for a wonderful artistic adventure.

Later this week, Sam, my friend, Jeanna, and I are going to explore downtown Cody. You will be amazed at how much Sam will have grown by then! (wink)

Happy Trails!

More on the Grizzly festival…

I snapped this artist griz in front of my favorite downtown store, Reindeer Ranch. He’s a winner. (Notice the cowboys taking a break on the bench beside him – one of them enjoying his morning cigar?)Grizzly3

It’s hot this week – too hot for me to bustle around town, so I’m glad Sam & I went last week.

The tourists love nothing more than ambling down Sheridan Avenue and studying the painted bears.

Here are a two more of my favorites…

Aren’t their faces DA BOMB?

I just want to look them dead in the face and say, “DUH.”

Happy Trails.

Grizzlysam sm My special guy, Sam Elliot, and I have been in downtown Cody today, taking photos of Cody’s “Festival of Grizzlies.”  As you can see, even Sam, whom no one can possibly outshine, is dwarfed in comparison to these guys.

This photo will give you some idea of how huge these babies are. In a word – LIFESIZE.

Twenty five, five foot Grizzlies posing all over Cody and Powell, Wyoming. How cool is that?!!!

The back of this Griz (see below) gives you a fair indication of how cleverly he was painted – with outdoor scenery true to the landscape in which the “real thing” lives.

We’ll be back with more Grizzlies to keep you entertained.

Til then, Sam and I wish you Happy Trails.

Yee Ha!

Laugh if you must…

I just had to have my own little Sam Elliot!

I have plans for Sam.

He will be enjoying adventures in and around Cody, Wyoming – not to mention road and plane trips.

Sam will also drop in on my blog occasionally for photo ops, and he may even become an art aficiando.

Just imagine. My own little Sam Elliot the Cowboy to carry around in my purse or pocket whenever I please. I know the real thing would be better (YUM) but beggers can’t be choosers.

Be on the lookout. Sam will return.

Happy Trails!

Yee Ha!

WHO’S THAT COWBOY?  None other than my son, Whit, riding in Cody’s 2008 4th of July Parade!

This year’s parade hasn’t quite matched those of year’s past, but it was fun, none the less.

How about a few more photos in celebration of the old USA?

What would the Cody parade be without horses and rodeo queens?

Enjoy…

Happy Trails, pardner!
