I’ve been working on little "giftie" ideas. Small things to sell at Art Unraveled besides the purses, cards, and jewelry I plan on offering there. I’d like to have items in various price ranges available for folks who’d like a little piece of Cowboy’s Sweetheart, but have to watch their pocketbooks. (Believe me, I can identify!)

I love these two little cherubs, dressed like Indians and playing with their "Anglo" dolls. I couldn’t resist the wolf image, which hints at Kevin Costner’s movie. I know the colors are not what one would usually choose when depicting Native American – instead, I wanted girly-girl, mixed with Indian, because that’s exactly what the photo implies.

I’ve worked on a few other ideas, and did a few of these today as well.

I printed out the background of a piece of art I did in a journal round robin – then, added the cowgirl, paints, inks, papers, rhinestones ( cowgirls deserve to sparkle! ), and the stamped image "Dream."

To be sure, these aren’t "high art," but they’re fun. These diminuitive notebooks are a whimsical diversion for me, and they’re a nice break from painting and sewing.

Besides, who doesn’t love little books?

I’m on a roll and off to make some more.

Happy Trails.

Artfully Inspired

I was honored today with a nice feature on Debi Mattingly’s new blog, Artfully Inspired.

To read my interview, visit here.

Debi is a mixed media artist, famous for her fantastic western purses (as featured in the "western Bible," Cowboys & Indians Magazine). She has recently posted some amazing metal & wood crosses, as well as interesting, gypsy-like mixed media pieces I think you’ll enjoy.

Artfully Inspired is meant to uplift and inspire women – not simply artists, but women everywhere. I found her first feature on movie producer, Dorothea Petrie, fascinatng. In this interview, Petrie talks about the secret to her success…

Arm yourself with a cup of java in one hand & a Bloody Mary (complete with celery stalk) in the other and be prepared for the ride of your life.

Michael deMeng’s new book, "Secrets of Rusty Things," is a MUST for anyone seeking an adventure full of fantastic artwork, inspiration, invaluable information, and a gusty dose of humor.

Can this guy create? Can he teach? Can he inspire? Can he write? Can he – well, do anything and everything? A resounding YES to all!

It is so refreshing to own a book that isn’t the standard, "how to." Instead, deMeng takes you on a fantastic journey into his mind. He invites you into his studio where you pratically pull up a chair and watch him work. Get into his head. Learn his history, his secrets. Share a drink. Scavange an alley for a beat up typewriter. Meet an old, grizzled cowboy friend. Argue with a junk dealer (in this case, to no avail). Experiment with paint. Get gooey with "Great Stuff." Meet otherworldy Gods. And laugh. Oh, how you will laugh!

Get thee to Amazon, NOW, and order this sucker! You won’t be sorry.

As for YOU, Michael – YEE HA! You go, COWBOY!

I haven’t been this inspired since I learned how to ride a HOSS!
